Luke Thomas Berringer is a young American conductor based in Berlin, Germany. Currently he is serving as an Assistant Conductor for the Berlin Academy of American Music, and holds the Trombone II chair of the Temple Symphony Orchestra in the United States. Recent work includes conducting the Denver Philharmonic on their performance of the Telemann Viola Concerto, and the Tulsa Conducting Workshop. Luke was recently a finalist for Artistic Director of the San Marcos Arts Orchestra in San Marcos, Texas, where he conducted their 2023/2024 season and served as Interim Artistic Director. An experienced teacher, Luke has taught for over a decade in a variety of environments including: private tutelage, young artist programs, and public school in the United States.

Upcoming engagements include assisting with the Berlin Academy of American Music at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, Romania this September, and their composer’s workshop in Berlin this July. Additionally Luke will maintain his active trombone schedule both in the United States and Germany. Luke holds degrees in Music Performance and the German Language from The University of Texas at Austin, with additional studies at Universität Würzburg. His conducting mentors include Garrett Keast, and Kelly Kuo, with his trombone mentors including Brian Hecht and Mark Hampson.

A proud Texan, Luke served as a tour guide of the Texas State Capitol and his hometown of Austin, Texas for many years. He speaks English and German fluently, and is developing his Italian skills. Luke is currently looking for a Conducting Masters program in Germany, with expected entrance in the coming year.
